Weekend Poll Top Three: Fans Choose Wicked Duo Glinda & Elphie as Their Favorite Gal Pals
In the new buddy cop comedy The Heat, Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock brought a big dose of girl power to the big screen this weekend, and their hard work paid off—the new gal pals took home $40 million at the box office. Girls are having more fun on Broadway too, so we asked fans to choose which female duo make the best onstage team. With classics like Mame and Vera in Mame to new besties Campbell and Skylar in Bring It On, fans had a lot of thinking to do! Check out the results of the Weekend Poll below.
1. Elphaba and Glinda from Wicked — 45%
Looks like Wicked fans have been changed for the better after knowing Elphie and Glinda. A whopping 45% chose the witchy twosome from Stephen Schwartz’s blockbuster musical as their favorite Broadway gal pals. Of course, the ladies start out “Loathing” each other at first, but they reluctantly become pals after Glinda gives Elphie a very, very “Popular” makeover. By the time Elphaba defies gravity, they’re the best of friends—and Broadway fans wouldn’t mind spending time with this dynamic duo.
2. Elle and Paulette from Legally Blonde — 14%
If Legally Blonde has taught us anything (and it totally has), it’s that a kindred spirit is only a manicure away. From the moment Paulette pulls out the pink nail polish, she and Elle become best friends who would do absolutely anything for one another. From the famous “Bend and Snap” to the renegade rescue of Paulette’s dog, there’s nothing these ladies can’t accomplish when they put their minds to it.
3. Tracy and Penny from Hairspray — 7%
Baltimore gals Tracy and Penny have so much in common: they love dancing, they hate school and they both have super crazy parents. It’s no wonder they’re besties! But their friendship is really put to the test when boys enter the picture, and they wind up in jail. While some friendships may fall apart, Penny and Tracy are closer than ever, so it’s no wonder why 7% of fans chose them as their favorite gal team.
