Summer's hottest heat wave is sticking around a little bit longer. Dancing with the Stars duo Karina Smirnoff and Maksim Chmerkovskiy will extend their run in Luis Bravo's Forever Tango for an additional two weeks. The pair was initially set to wrap up their run in the dance revue on July 28, but now Smirnoff and Chmerkovisky will perform in the internationally acclaimed production through August 11 at Broadway's Walter Kerr Theatre. Now in previews, Forever Tango officially opens on July 14.
Forever Tango features 16 dancers and an 11-piece orchestra alongside rotating celebrity vocalists. Five-time Grammy winner Gilberto Santa Rosa is taking the stage as a guest vocalist for the initial three weeks of the engagement through July 28.
Created and directed by Bravo, Forever Tango originally opened in 1997 at Broadway’s Walter Kerr Theatre before transferring to the Marquis Theatre. It earned a Tony nomination for Best Choreography. In 2004, the production returned to Broadway’s Shubert Theatre for a four-month engagement.
