In the same week that the royal baby arrived, another royal was on top of the world—on Broadway! Perennial favorite The Lion King nabbed the top spot in this week’s grosses, with box office-busting mainstays Wicked and The Book of Mormon not too far behind. This week also saw the arrival of the new Broadway musical Soul Doctor, which began previews on July 17. Though the rock star rabbi didn’t clean up in grosses, the show managed to pack more than 85 percent of the house at Circle in the Square Theatre during his first week on the stage.
