Side Show has found its leading ladies! Erin Davie and Emily Padgett will star as Violet and Daisy Hilton, respectively, in director Bill Condon’s re-imagined staging of Henry Krieger and Bill Russell’s Side Show. The production will run at La Jolla Playhouse from November 5 through December 15, 2013, followed by a run in Washington, D.C. at the Kennedy Center from June 14 through July 13, 2014.
In addition to Davie and Padgett, Side Show will star Tony nominee Manoel Felciano as Terry Connor, Matthew Hydzik as Buddy, David St. Louis as Jake and 2013 Tony nominee Keala Settle as Fortune Teller. The ensemble includes Brandon Bieber, Lauren Elder, Javier Ignacio, Robert Joy, Kelvin Moon Loh, Zonya Love, Barrett Martin, Don Richard, Blair Ross, Matthew Patrick Davis, Nicholas Mongiardo-Cooper, Hannah Shankman, David Kirk Grant and Michelle London.
The creative team includes scenic designer David Rockwell, costume designer Paul Tazewell, lighting designers Jules Fisher and Peggy Eisenhauer and sound designer Kai Harada. Anthony Van Laast will choreograph.
Broadway vet Davie most recently replaced Betsy Wolfe on Broadway in The Mystery of Edwin Drood; her other Broadway credits include Grey Gardens, Curtains and A Little Night Music. Padgett most recently originated the leading role of Alex Owens in the national tour of Flashdance; she’s also starred on Broadway in Legally Blonde, Grease and Rock of Ages.
