Throwback Thursday! See Scandal First Lady Bellamy Young’s Stripper Past in Broadway’s The Life

Bellamy Young has garnered much attention as manipulative First Lady Mellie Grant in the ABC drama Scandal. But before she was raising hell in the White House, Young made her Broadway debut as Mary, a girl just off the bus who became a hooker and a stripper in the Tony-nominated Cy Coleman musical The Life. The show remains Young’s sole Broadway credit (why, Bellamy, why?), and the clip below is a rare video performance of her big solo song “Easy Money.” In the Act Two number, Mary discovers the joy and ease that stripping provides.
