Broadway.com Audience Choice Award winner Sierra Boggess is one of the greatest Christine Daaes of all time, as evidenced by the fact that composer Andrew Lloyd Webber and producer Cameron Mackintosh have chosen her not once, but twice, to play Christine in 25th Anniversary productions of their long-running record-breaker The Phantom of the Opera. (Not to mention you, the readers, voted her your Favorite Broadway Replacement at the 2013 Audience Choice Awards.) So what would get Boggess back to Phantom for an encore performance? Her fiancé Tam Mutu.
“I think [Tam] would be an amazing Phantom,” Boggess said in her Ask a Star interview with Broadway.com. “And that might get me back to playing Christine.” She went on to say that in a few years, the couple could also co-star in Stephen Sondheim’s dark musical Sweeney Todd, “He would be an incredible Sweeney Todd, so maybe later in our lives we can do Sweeney Todd, and I can sing 'Worst Pies in London.'”
Mutu and Boggess met during the London engagement of the Phantom of the Opera sequel Love Never Dies. They went on to star together in the West End production of Les Miserables and were announced to co-headline the Broadway production of Rebecca before the production was canceled.
