Zachary Levi and Krysta Rodriguez are headed into the studio on August 12 to record the original Broadway cast album of First Date, the new Broadway musical comedy that opened at the Longacre Theatre on August 8. Recorded and released by Yellow Sound Label and executive produced by Altar Identity Studios, the cast recording of Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner’s score will be available through Amazon, iTunes and everywhere else in the fall of 2013.
Levi and Rodriguez (Broadway.com's newest video blogger) star as two strangers who are set up on a blind date, with co-stars Sara Chase, Kristoffer Cusick, Blake Hammond, Kate Loprest and Bryce Ryness also appearing as a variety of ex-lovers, uptight family members and not-so-supportive friends who pop up throughout the evening.
The musical is a 90-minute romp through one hilarious evening, wherein a first date dinner is served up with a side of Google background checks, fake bailout calls and one or two imaginary voices who have advice to dish out to the two bold daters.
Directed by Bill Berry, First Date features a book by Austin Winsberg, musical staging by Josh Rhodes, orchestrations by August Eriksmoen and musical supervision, vocal and incidental arrangements by Dominick Amendum.
