This week, Broadway welcomed another bio musical to the boards: Soul Doctor. The show, which opened on August 15 the Circle in the Square Theatre, tells the story of ‘60s singers Shlomo Carlebach and Nina Simone. This is just the first of three Broadway biographical shows about famous singers from that time period: In September, Mary Bridget Davies will star as the one and only Janis Joplin in A Night with Janis Joplin, and in November, Tony nominee Jessie Mueller will play Carole King in Beautiful. These three female musicians (Simone, Joplin and King) changed the sound of the ‘60s and ‘70s while battling personal hardships—which got us thinking about other ladies who defined what many see as a golden era of music. So, we want to know: Which other legendary female singer from the 1960s and '70s should get her own bio musical? Vote below.
