Two-time Tony winner Christine Ebersole has some magic up her sleeve. The stage and screen actress will join Ryan Murphy’s upcoming season of American Horror Story: Coven, according to Deadline.com.
"I cast Christine Ebersole, who’s a great Tony Award winning actress,” Murphy said. “She’s going to play this [recurring] Glenda [sic] the Good Witch-type of gal.”
Ebersole won Tony Awards for her star turns in Grey Gardens and 42nd Street. Her additional Broadway credits include Steel Magnolias, Oklahoma!, Dinner at Eight, Blithe Spirit, The Best Man, Camelot, On the Twentieth Century and Getting Away with Murder. Her vast screen credits include Richie Rich, Black Sheep, My Girl 2, Gypsy, Royal Pains, Retired at 35, Ryan’s Hope, Amadeus and Sullivan & Son.
Ebersole joins a starry, female-heavy cast which includes fellow two-time Tony winner Patti LuPone, Oscar winners Jessica Lange and Kathy Bates, Golden Globe winner Angela Bassett, Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson, Gabourey Sidibe, Emma Roberts and Frances Conroy.
American Horror Story: Coven will center on a coven of witches that relocates from Salem, Massachusetts to New Orleans.
