It's official: Michelle Williams is your new Sally Bowles, and the Internet abuzz today with the news that she’ll star in the upcoming 2014 Broadway revival of Cabaret. Before you ask, "Can she sing?" we'll tell you: Yes, she can! To save you the trouble of searching YouTube, we’ve dug up clips of Williams doing her best song and dance. (This took a while, because any search for “Michelle Williams singing” leads you straight to the third member of Destiny’s Child and Chicago alum.) Check them out below!
Talk about a Bombshell: In 2011’s My Week with Marilyn, Oscar nominee Williams gives full Marilyn Monroe glamour as she sings “Heatwave” and shows off some fabulous moves and suitably sexy figure. You can also hear her sing other standards made famous by Monroe, like “That Old Black Magic” and "When Loves Goes Wrong, Nothing Goes Right."
In a rare comedic turn in the 2005 rom-com The Baxter, Williams quietly croons El May’s “Hero” in a small club—and thus wins the heart of Michael Showalter’s milquetoast protagonist. The song is gorgeous and haunting, just like Williams.
Finally, take a trip back to 1998 for some fun-loving Williams lip-syncing on Dawson’s Creek. As bad girl Jen Lindley, Williams rocked out to “Teenage Wasteland” on the popular nighttime soap. (Hey, it beats Katie Holmes' beauty pageant rendition of "On My Own.")
