Who needs Whitney Houston when you have Il Divo? Tony winner Heather Headley, who is rumored to come back to Broadway in the musical adaptation of The Bodyguard, will make her grand return to the Great White Way in Il Divo—A Musical Affair: The Greatest Songs on Broadway, a six-night concert series at the Marquis Theatre, according to The New York Times. Headley will join the opera/pop group Il Divo on Broadway from November 7 through November 13.
Headley made her Broadway debut in The Lion King before earning a Tony Award for her leading role in Disney’s Aida. She made her West End debut in the stage adaptation of the Whitney Houston musical The Bodyguard, a performance for which she received an Olivier Award nomination. As a recording artist, Headley won a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary R&B Gospel Album for Audience of One.
International recording stars Il Divo have released six studio albums, a live album and a greatest hits compilation. On November 5, in advance of their Broadway concert, they will release their latest album of Broadway music. Created by Simon Cowell, the group is known for their stylistic blend of pop and opera. The quartet is comprised of Carlos Marín, Urs Bühler, Sébastien Izambard and David Miller. Il Divo—A Musical Affair: The Greatest Songs on Broadway marks the first time the group will appear together on Broadway, though Miller played Rodolfo in Baz Luhrmann’s Broadway production of La Boheme in 2003.
Il Divo—A Musical Affair: The Greatest Songs on Broadway will include music from The Phantom of the Opera, West Side Story, South Pacific, The Lion King and more.
