Recording artist Beverley Knight is taking on the songs of the late, great Whitney Houston beginning September 9. Knight makes her West End debut as the new headliner of the splashy musical The Bodyguard opposite British TV star Tristan Gemmill. Knight replaces Tony winner and Olivier nominee Heather Headley in the role of Rachel Marron, a pop star who hires a bodyguard (Gemmill) to protect her and her son from a deranged stalker. Known as the Queen of British Soul, Knight released six studio albums to date and sold over a million records in the U.K. Based on the Oscar-nominated 1992 film of the same name and featuring the music of Houston, The Bodyguard continues at London’s Adelphi Theatre. Check out Paul Coltas’ photo of Knight as Marron, and head back to The Bodyguard to see her live.
