Delroy Lindo has joined the cast of Cymbeline, writer-director Michael Almereyda’s previously announced biker-gang-and-bad-cops contemporary take on the Shakespeare play. According to Deadline.com, the Tony nominee will play Belarius, a manly, battered and paranoid noble. Starring Macbeth's Ethan Hawke, Cymbeline began filming in New York City in August.
In addition to Hawke and Lindo, the cast of Cymbeline features the previously reported Penn Badgely and Milla Jovovich, as well as Ed Harris, Dakota Johnson, Boyd Holbrook and Anton Yelchin. Shakespeare’s Cymbeline tells the story of the forbidden marriage between Imogen (Johnson), the daughter of King Cymbeline (Harris), and Posthumus Leonatus (Badgley), a man in the king’s court. Hawke will play Iachimo, a friend who bets Posthumus that he can successfully seduce Imogen.
Lindo received a Tony Award nomination for Joe Turner’s Come and Gone. His other theater credits include "Master Harold"...and the Boys and Things of Dry Hours. Lindo's film and TV work includes The Cider House Rules, Heist, A Life Less Ordinary, The Exonerated and Kidnapped. He also appeared in the HBO adaptation of Lackawanna Blues, directed by George C. Wolfe.
