After nine years of partying off-Broadway, The Awesome ‘80s Prom is finally turning off its disco ball. The interactive ‘80s dance party will play its final performance on November 2 at the Wall. Throughout the show’s run, over 300,000 packs of Pop Rocks were consumed, more than 160,000 wine coolers were opened and more than 700,000 party guests tried to do “The Worm.”
Written and directed by Ken Davenport, The Awesome ‘80s Prom is a blast-from-the-past party set at Wanaget High’s Senior Prom in 1989. Part comedy, part dance party, The Awesome ‘80s Prom features an American Idol-style contest and includes ‘80s hits “Wake Me Up Before You Go Go,” “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” and more. The Awesome '80s Prom initially opened off-Broadway in July 2004 at Webster Hall before transferring to The Wall in July 2013.
