Kirsten Wyatt is heading to Easy Steet. The actress will take over the role of Lily St. Regis in the Broadway revival of Annie beginning October 1, according to a production spokesperson. J. Elaine Marcos, who currently stars as Rooster Hannigan’s con artist girlfriend, plays her final performance on September 29. Annie continues at Broadway’s Palace Theatre through January 5, 2014.
Wyatt has appeared on Broadway in Grease, Elf, A Christmas Story, High Fidelity, Urinetown, The Pajama Game, Shrek and You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. Her regional credits include Sweet Charity, Legally Blonde, Guys and Dolls, Mame and Les Miserables. She joins a company that includes Taylor Richardson and Sadie Sink alternating the title role, Faith Prince as Miss Hannigan, Anthony Warlow as Daddy Warbucks, Jenni Barber as Grace Farrell, Clarke Thorell as Rooster Hannigan, J. Elaine Marcos as Lily St. Regis and Sunny the dog as Sandy.
Inspired by the famous comic strip Little Orphan Annie, the features music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Martin Charnin and a book by Thomas Meehan. The production, helmed by James Lapine and choreographed by Andy Blankenbuehler, opened on November 8. Annie was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Revival and won the Broadway.com Audience Choice Award for Favorite Revival.
