Lily Rabe volunteers as tribute! The Tony-nominated stage and screen star is joining The Hunger Games: Mockingjay films as Commander Lyme, a past victor of The Hunger Games and one of the leaders of the District 13 rebellion, according to Deadline.com. Although no release dates have been set, Mockingjay part one is slated to premiere in 2014 and part two is set for a 2015 release.
The cast of the two new Hunger Games films, Mockingjay parts one and two, will include previously announced stars Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen, Natalie Dormer as Cressida, Liam Hemsworth as Gale Hawthorne, Josh Hutcherson as Peeta Mellark, Julianne Moore as Alma Coin, Philip Seymour Hoffman as Plutarch Heavensbee, Evan Ross as Messalla and Stef Dawson as Annie Cresta. No additional casting has been announced.
In Mockingjay part one, the third film in the series, Katniss becomes the symbol of a rebellion against the Capitol. In Mockingjay part two, our heroine attempts to win the civil war between the Districts of Panem and the autocratic Capitol. The films are based on the bestselling science fiction novels by Suzanne Collins.
Rabe received a Tony nomination for The Merchant of Venice. Her additional Broadway credits include Seminar, The American Plan, Heartbreak House and Steel Magnolias. Her film and TV credits include American Horror Story, All Good Things, No Reservations, What Just Happened, The Good Wife, Aftermath, Letters From the Big Man, Weakness and Medium.
