In fair Verona New York City, where we lay our scene, the contemporary revival of Romeo and Juliet has landed on Broadway, and we’ve got a first look at this exciting production, photographed by Carol Rosegg. Directed by five-time Tony nominee David Leveaux, this Main Stem mounting of Shakespeare's tragedy tells the story of two young "star-cross'd lovers" whose families are locked in a bitter feud. They try to defy the circumstances that forbid their love, but with heartbreaking results. Starring Orlando Bloom (in his Broadway debut) as Romeo Montague and two-time Tony nominee Condola Rashad as Juliet Capulet, the modern revival also features Tony winners Brent Carver and Chuck Cooper, two-time Tony nominee Jayne Houdyshell, Christian Camargo and Justin Guarini.
