Anything can happen in the woods, including (but not limited to) wolf kidnappings, cow exchanges, illicit affairs, footwear robberies and at least three shady negotiations over legumes. All of these magical events are a part of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Into the Woods, and they’ll all take center stage—or, screen—when the show receives an all-star movie adaptation, due for release on Christmas 2014. Disney’s Into the Woods is shaping up to be the movie musical event of next year, with stars like Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp and Anna Kendrick on tap to channel their inner fairy tale characters in the enchanted musical.
