Angela Lansbury may be the demure mystery-solving British grandmother of our dreams, but on September 19, this five-time Tony winner got downright kinky when she took in the evening performance of the hit Tony Award-winning musical Kinky Boots. After learning that indeed the sex is in the heel, Lansbury made her way backstage at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre to congratulate the talented cast and creators. Here she is flanked by Tony winner Billy Porter, the musical’s scribe Harvey Fierstein, co-headliner Stark Sands and the show’s Tony-winning orchestrator Stephen Oremus. It seems the story of a drag queen, a straight guy and the shoes they create together is truly a tale as old as time. In addition to Lansbury's surprise appearance, Fierstein, Porter, Oremus and the musical's composer/lyricist Cyndi Lauper reunited on stage for post-show talkback discussing how Lauper created the show's Tony-winning score.
