Two-time Tony winner Patti LuPone will appear on two episodes in the upcoming third season of the HBO comedy Girls, according to her press rep. Could it be that aspiring singer Marnie Michaels (played by Allison Williams) finds herself on the Great White Way with La LuPone? One can only hope! Tune in to season three in 2014 to find out.
A Best Actress Tony winner for Evita and Gypsy, LuPone has received additional Tony nominations for The Robber Bridegroom, Anything Goes, Sweeney Todd and Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown. Her most recent Broadway appearance was in David Mamet’s The Anarchist. This fall, LuPone will co-star on the FX series American Horror Story: Coven.
The Golden Globe-winning comedy Girls has employed many Broadway names in the past including Andrew Rannells, Zosia Mamet, Adam Driver, Christopher Abbott, Skylar Astin, Becky Ann Baker, Peter Scolari, Kathryn Hahn, Patrick Wilson and Christina Kirk. The third season of Girls will also welcome Bad Jews star Michael Zegen.
