Who is he? Who is he? He’s Jean Valjean! Toronto’s 25th anniversary production of Les Miserables is underway, starring Ramin Karimloo (London’s Les Miz, The Phantom of the Opera, Love Never Dies) as prisoner 24601, Jean Valjean. The production, which began its limited engagement at the Princess of Wales Theatre on September 27, is a newly imagined version of the 1985 Boublil and Schonberg blockbuster featuring new scenes, orchestrations and designs—but don’t worry, all your favorite songs are still intact. Directed by James Powell and Laurence Connor, Les Miz also features Earl Carpenter as Javert, Genevieve Leclerc as Fantine, Samantha Hill as Cosette, Perry Sherman as Marius and Melissa O’Neil as Eponine. Check out this Hot Shot of Karimloo in character (Geez, can’t you guys be easy on him? He only stole a loaf of bread!), then catch the new production in Toronto!
