Tony winner Kristin Chenoweth has signed on to join Katrina Bowden and Skyler Gisondo in director Sean Nalaboff’s indie teen flick Hard Sell, according to Deadline.com.
The movie centers on Hardy (Gisondo), a geeky prep school student who befriends Bo, a stripper (Bowden), while doing community service. The pair unites to raise funds for an operation for Hardy’s dog. Chenoweth is set to play Lorna Buchanan, Hardy’s mother. Hannah Marks (Necessary Roughness) will play Lake, Hardy’s love interest.
Chenoweth won a Tony Award for You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown and received a nomination for originating the role of Glinda in Wicked. Her other Broadway credits include Promises, Promises, The Apple Tree, Epic Proportions and Steel Pier. Her many TV credits include Glee, The West Wing, GCB and an Emmy-winning turn in Pushing Daisies. Chenoweth is reportedly eyeing a return to Broadway in Hello, Dolly! in the next two years.
