Haven't taken a peek inside the Public Theater's Fun Home yet? That's OK, because now you have two more weeks to take a tour. The world premiere of four-time Tony nominee Jeanine Tesori's new musical, starring Judy Kuhn and Michael Cerveris, is extending its off-Broadway run through November 17. Directed by Sam Gold, Fun Home will open at the Public’s Newman Theater on October 22.
Fun Home, which is based on the graphic novel by Alison Bechdel and features a book and lyrics by Lisa Kron, charts a girl’s quest to come to terms with her father’s unexpected death. As she moves between past and present, Alison dives into the story of her volatile, brilliant father and relives her unique childhood at her family’s funeral home. In addition to Kuhn and Cerveris, the cast also includes Alexandra Socha, Griffin Birney, Roberta Colindrez, Noah Hinsdale, Sydney Lucas, Beth Malone and Joel Perez.
Fun Home features scenic and costume design by David Zinn, lighting design by Ben Stanton, sound design by Kai Harada, projection design by Jim Findlay and Jeff Sugg, wig design by Paul Huntley, music direction by Chris Fenwick and choreography by Danny Mefford.
