Tony nominees Ellen Greene (The Threepenny Opera) and Robert La Fosse (Jerome Robbins' Broadway) were just two of the talents to strut their stuff at the Abrons Arts Center's Uptown/Downtown benefit show on October 14, but it looks like they may have stolen the show. Greene, with the help of Emmy-winning composer Bette Sussman, performed songs by the legendary songwriter Peter Allen (the subject of The Boy from Oz), and La Fosse did a tribute to the celebrated dancer Isadora Duncan. With musical direction by Lance Horne, Uptown/Downtown unites stars of traditional musical theater and alternative performance. In addition to Greene and La Fosse, the evening featured performances by Bebe Neuwirth, Kyle Abraham, Joey Arias, Jack Ferver + James Whiteside, Philippe Petit and other special guests.
