Sad news, American Horror Story addicts (a.k.a. everyone)—Jessica Lange, our favorite widow/nun/witch, is planning to leave the hit FX series after one final season, The Los Angeles Times reports. “I am coming to the end of acting,” she said with certainty. But there is a silver lining to this terrible news: Lange has a bucket list of projects she’d like to do before she officially retires.
“I have a list: another stage production, maybe one or two more movies, one more season of American Horror Story, and that is it for me,” she said. “Because I think that’s enough. I want to go out with a bang…or should I say, a scare?” Hey, at least someone can have a sense of humor about this, because we're devastated.
We know the stage production is going to be a return to Broadway in the drama filled Long Day's Journey Into Night and we're hoping that the movies will be happier roles as according to Lange, every part she plays takes a toll on her—including her Broadway debut in A Streetcar Named Desire. “When I did Blanche DuBois for the first time, I think my kids were worried about me,” she said. “The deeper you go, the more they settle in and it's harder to pull away. I used to soak in a hot tub for hours in the dark, just like Blanche.”
