A force of nature. Tough as nails. Hilarious. Outspoken. Inimitable. Exposed. All of these words—and a whole lot more—describe the Broadway legend that is Elaine Stritch, subject of Chiemi Karasawa’s forthcoming documentary, Elaine Stritch: Shoot Me. And what a subject! Filmed in 2012, the camera follows her during rehearsals in the run-up to one-woman show (at the age of 86!) at the Cafe Carlyle. We see some of her performances, receptions, guest appearances on 30 Rock with Alec Baldwin (who produced the doc) as well as her behind-the-scenes battles with Type 1 diabetes, aging and alcoholism. The film contains great one-liners and anecdotes from friends and colleagues, including Tina Fey, Cherry Jones, the late James Gandolfini, Nathan Lane and more. Take a first look at the movie’s teaser poster, which is the first official art from the film, due in theaters February 21, 2014. Are you ready to have the one-and-only Stritch bursting back into your life? We are!
