Is it hot in here? The new revival of Harold Pinter’s Betrayal is currently sizzling on Broadway, starring Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz and Rafe Spall as three friends caught in an illicit love triangle. Directed by 10-time Tony winner Mike Nichols, the 1978 drama by Harold Pinter opens officially on October 27. Betrayal is slated to play a limited engagement through January 5, 2014 at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre.
Betrayal tells the story of Robert and Emma (played by real-life husband and wife, Craig and Weisz). When their literary agent friend Jerry (Spall) falls head over heels for Emma, the couple carry on a secret tryst behind Robert’s back. After premiering in London, Betrayal originally opened on Broadway in 1980, starring Raul Julia, Blythe Danner and Roy Scheider.
The creative team features set designer Ian MacNeil, costume designer Ann Roth, lighting designer Brian MacDevitt, sound designer Scott Lehrer and original music by James Murphy.
