As FOX’s musical hit show Glee begins to wind down, all eyes are on the show’s creator, Ryan Murphy, and his star, Lea Michele, and it appears the pair are already planning their next joint venture: a Rachel Berry spinoff series. RadarOnline.com reports that Murphy is developing a new series centered around the rising Broadway actress Rachel Berry (Michele).
“This is definitely happening,” an insider told Radar. “They’re making the deals now and it also presents a viable exit plan for the main Glee series itself — in that some of its core cast would also migrate to the Lea Michele project as Glee is showing signs of aging. This will be announced soon.”
Will the new series be solely set in New York City? Will Kurt, Blaine and Santana be there too? Will it just be Smash 2.0? Or is it all just a rumor? According to the LA Times a Fox rep denied there would be a Glee spinoff. Only time will tell.
The original Glee returns from its brief hiatus on November 7.
