Game of Thrones star Kit Harington and two-time Tony winner Jennifer Ehle have signed on for the big screen adaptation of the popular British spy series Spooks. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the two will join Peter Firth, who was in the original series, in Spooks: The Greater Good. Directed by Bharat Nalluri, the espionage thriller is set to begin shooting in early 2014.
Spooks: The Greater Good, written by long-time Spooks writers Sam Vincent and Jonathan Brackley, will follow Will Crombie (Harington), an ex-MI-5 agent brought back in by Deputy Director-General Geraldine Maltby (Ehle) to uncover how a terrorist escaped custody during a routine handover. Firth will play the MI-5 Head of Counter Terrorism Harry Pearce. Together they must solve the mystery in the face of an imminent terror attack on London.
Harington is well-known for his role on Jon Snow on HBO's hit series Game of Thrones. He also starred as Albert in the original West End production of War Horse. Harington's film credits include Silent Hill: Revelation and the upcoming Seventh Son, Pompeii and How To Train Your Dragon 2. Ehle earned Tony Awards for her performances in The Coast of Utopia and The Real Thing. Her film and TV credits include Pride and Prejudice, The King's Speech, The Adjustment Bureau, The Ides of March, Contagion, A Gifted Man, Zero Dark Thirty and the upcoming RoboCop reboot and Fifty Shades of Grey.
