By pure coincidence, Aussie actors Hugh Jackman and Geoffrey Rush were both in the audience at Broadway’s Big Fish on November 13—and if Jackman has his way, the duo could soon be starring together in the forthcoming film adaptation of The Drowsy Chaperone. The Tony winner, who previously said that the film’s script had “just hit my desk,” told Entertainment Weekly that after a read, he is seriously considering playing vain Latin lover Aldolpho alongside Rush’s Man in Chair.
“I loved the original production on Broadway,” Jackman said. “Incredibly funny and terrific, great fun. I was not sure how that would translate [to film], but the script at the moment is wonderful. I think they’re trying to put the movie together, I don’t think it’s fully together yet, but they are talking to me about it, and I’m very interested in it.”
There’s one musical, sadly, that does not interest him: A Wolverine musical on Broadway. “Not with me,” he said. “But hey, they did Rocky. Who would have thought?”
