Paging Dr. Grey! Tony and Oscar winner Marcia Gay Harden is set to join the cast of the film adaptation of E.L. James' Fifty Shades of Grey, according to Deadline. Harden will portray Dr. Grace Trevelyan Grey, the adoptive mom to billionaire and titular character, Christian Grey. Harden joins previously announced stars Dakota Johnson, Jamie Dornan and Tony winner Jennifer Ehle.
Fifty Shades of Grey is an erotic romance novel by James that became a worldwide sensation. The book tells the story of a naive college student, Anastasia (Johnson) who falls for Grey (Dorman), a dashing business tycoon with a fondness for S&M. The film adaptation will be directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, with a screenplay by Kelly Marcel.
Harden received a Tony award for her performance as Veronica in God of Carnage. She also appeared in the original productions of Angels in America: Perestroika and Angels in America: Millennium Approaches. She earned an Oscar for her performance in Pollock. Harden’s additional TV and film credits include The Newsroom, Trophy Wife, Mystic River, The First Wives Club, and Into The Wild.
