Grammy nominators showed their stingy side this year, only honoring three Broadway cast albums in the category of Best Musical Theater Album for the 56th Annual Grammy Awards, a race that traditionally contains up to five contenders.
Kinky Boots (Masterworks Broadway), Matilda (Broadway Records/Yellow Sound Label) and Motown: The Musical (Universal Music Enterprises) are the lucky three vying for this year’s award. Notable releases snubbed this year include the cast recordings of Annie, Pippin and Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella.
