Does Madonna’s daughter, Lourdes “Lola” Leon, have dreams of following her mother on the Broadway stage? Time will tell, but the 17-year-old high school senior is currently testing the waters by playing the role of bad girl Betty Rizzo in Grease at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of the Performing Arts in New York City.
According to the New York Daily News, proud mom Madonna attended the production’s opening night on December 6, along with Leon’s siblings Rocco, David and Mercy, and brought her daughter a congratulatory bouquet of white roses.
Daily News theater critic Joe Dziemianowicz, not usually a regular on the high school scene, took to reviewing Leon’s performance in the paper, calling her acting and singing “terrific.”
No stranger to the stage, Madonna caused a commotion on Broadway when she made her debut in the David Mamet play Speed-the-Plow in 1988.
The sold-out run of Grease plays at LaGuardia High through December 15, with Leon alternating in the role of Rizzo with another student, Talia R. Bornstein.
Break a leg, Lola!
