Tony winner Andrea Martin is about to be reunited with SCTV pals Tony winner Martin Short and Eugene Levy on her new sitcom Working the Engels, according to TVLine. The new comedy series, created and written by Katie Ford and Jane Ford, features the Pippin star as the overly confident matriarch of the Engels. NBC is set to co-produce with Shaw Media/Noreen Halpern’s Halfire-CORE Entertainment.
The previously announced series follows a family who unites when their father passes away. They band together to take over his law firm, even though only one family member is qualified to practice law. Short will guest star as the head of Big Pastry, a big corporation that makes baked goods, who’s involved in a lawsuit over ownership of the delicious Double Muffin Tops recipe. Levy will guest as the Engels’ lawyer neighbor who values the beauty of Ceil Engel (Martin).
Short won a Tony for his performance in Little Me. His other Broadway credits include Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me and The Goodbye Girl. He shares an Emmy with Levy and Martin for his writing on SCTV. His additional screen credits include Father of the Bride, Mars Attacks!, Three Amigos, Innerspace, Saturday Night Live and Primetime Glick.
