Complete casting has been announced for Transport Group's revival of John Cariani’s Almost, Maine. Directed by Transport Artistic Director, Jack Cummings III, the production will also feature Tony nominee Cariani (Fiddler on the Roof) as an actor and begin performances on January 21, 2014. The off-Broadway show will play a limited engagement through February 23 at The Gym at Judson with opening night set for February 4.
Along with Cariani, the Almost, Maine cast will include Donna Lynne Champlin (Billy Elliot), Kevin Isola (Jericho) and Kelly McAndrew (Cat on a Hot Tin Roof).
Almost, Maine follows salty waitresses, lost visitors, tough and not-so–tough women and men cracking open beer and gathering under the northern lights to try to make sense of this strange thing called love. These characters are stalked by dreams and fears as they ante up again and again determined to get past the “almost” to capture the real.
Since its short-lived off-Broadway debut in 2006, Almost, Maine has become one of the most produced plays around the world. It has received over 2000 productions across the U.S. and internationally, having been translated into 11 languages and produced in over 15 countries. This production will be the play's first New York revival.
