Just sit right back and you’ll hear a tale, a tale of a rising star. According to Deadline, Tony nominee Josh Gad is being primed for a feature film version of the 1960s-sitcom, Gilligan’s Island. Gad will write the script alongside Benji Samit and Dan Hernandez, as well as star. It has not been announced which role the former Mormon star will portray.
The original TV series followed seven castaways who end up stranded on a tropical island after a storm shipwrecks them. It aired for three seasons on CBS and has lived on in syndication.
Gad has been in high demand in Hollywood, co-creating and starring in the short-lived NBC sitcom 1600 Penn and starring in Disney’s Frozen as well as the Steve Jobs biopic Jobs. He is also set to star and produce the FX/Fox pilot, The Comedians with Billy Crystal and to play late comic Sam Kinison in a biopic.
