Love is in the air! Casting and dates have been set for the return of the David Byrne-Fatboy Slim musical Here Lies Love off-Broadway. The principal cast from the 2013 world premiere are on board for the production, including Ruthie Ann Miles as Imelda Marcos. Directed by Tony nominee Alex Timbers, the show will begin performances April 14 and play an open-ended run. Opening night is scheduled for May 1 at The Public Theater's LuEsther Hall, the same space where it enjoyed its acclaimed previous engagement.
Set to the beat of a throbbing dance club score, Here Lies Love tells the story of Filipina First Lady Imelda Marcos, her meteoric rise to celebrity and subsequent descent into infamy. The show is an immersive theatrical experience that puts audience members directly into the action in a 360-degree scenic and video environment.
Along with Miles, the cast will feature Jose Llana as Ferdinand Marcos, Conrad Ricamora as Ninoy Aquino, Renee Albulario, Carol Angeli, Melody Butiu, Natalie Cortez, Debralee Daco, Kelvin Moon Loh, Jaygee Macapugay, Jeigh Madjus, Maria-Christina Oliveras, Conrad Ricamora, George Salazar and Janelle Velasquez.
Here Lies Love was conceived by Byrne and features lyrics by Byrne, music by Byrne and Fatboy Slim, additional music by Tom Gandey and J Pardo and choreography by Annie-B Parson.
