There’s a new season of Broadway to skewer and Forbidden Broadway is on it! The latest incarnation of Gerard Alessandrini’s hit spoof show Forbidden Broadway Comes Out Swinging! begins previews on March 17 at the newly refurbished Davenport Theatre. It will open there on May 4, just in time to make fun of the Tony nominations.
“We're having a particularly fun time with this one, because the edition is being created as the season unfolds, and the show is changing nightly," Alessandrini said in a statement.
The new edition of the show, which is directed by Phillip George and Alessandrini with musical direction by David Caldwell, will lampoon Kinky Boots, Matilda, Rocky, Cabaret, The Bridges of Madison County, Aladdin, Pippin, Les Miserables, Motown, The Sound of Music Live! and Bullets Over Broadway among others.
