Mozart in the Jungle, a new dramady starring Bernadette Peters, has been picked up by Amazon, according to Variety. The show, which is based on Blair Tindall’s memoir, offers an inside look behind the scenes at the symphony.
In addition to two-time Tony winner Peters, the show features Gael Garcia Bernal, Saffron Burrows, Lola Kirke, Malcom McDowell and Peter Vack.
Mozart in the Jungle has another familiar Broadway name attached: Rocky director Alex Timbers, who collaborated with Roman Coppola and Jason Schwartzman on writing the pilot, which was directed by Paul Weitz.
In related two-time-Tony-winners-heading-to-Amazon news (yes, that’s a category): Judith Light will be featured in the dark comedy Transparent, written and directed by Jill Soloway. Light will star alongside Jeffrey Tambor, Gaby Hoffmann, Amy Landecker and Jay Duplass.
