There’s some employee shifting happening at Babs’ underground mall! Broadway vet Barrett Foa will begin performances in the off-Broadway hit Buyer & Cellar on May 27, taking over for Christopher J. Hanke. Foa will play Alex More in the one-man play, a role originated by Michael Urie (who will launch the show’s national tour in May).
Foa has appeared on Broadway in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Avenue Q and Mamma Mia!. His television credits include NCIS: Los Angeles, Entourage, NCIS, Numb3rs, Six Degrees and The Closer.
Buyer & Cellar had its world premiere in April 2013 at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, where it played a sold-out, extended run before transferring to the Barrow Street Theatre where it opened June 24, 2013. Written by Jonathan Tolins and directed by Stephen Brackett, the show tells the story of a struggling Los Angeles actor who finds himself taking an odd job working in the Malibu basement of a certain Funny Girl Hollywood mega-star. When the A-lister makes a rare appearance one day, Buyer & Cellar launches into an outrageous look at fame and the price that accompanies it.
