Is that cake filled with rainbows and smiles ready yet? Not quite, but they're close! As previously reported, Tina Fey is working on a musical adaptation of her hit 2004 film Mean Girls with her husband Jeff Richmond, who is scoring the show. Vulture.com recently caught up with the pair, and they revealed some fetch details. The fetchiest? That the tuner might get on its feet as early as this summer!
“I think we are looking to do some workshops and readings during the course of this year,” Richmond told Vulture. “Maybe during the summer and into the fall.”
The duo also shared that they would like to see a cast of new names write in the burn book. “I don’t think I can say Audra McDonald will play Cady,” said Fey. “Hopefully we’ll find a young person who, at this moment, is still in college but will be making her way to New York as we write. Still a fetus somewhere.” OK, we’re fine with that, but on that subject, we do have some suggestions.
And don’t worry; there will be belting. “I can’t give you the specific moment,” Richmond teased, “but within the first 15 minutes, Regina is going to be belting out a number somehow.”
