LaChanze, who lost her husband Calvin Gooding in the tragic events of September 11, 2001, took part in the May 15 dedication of the National September 11 Memorial Museum. The Tony-winning actress, who is currently appearing on Broadway in If/Then, performed a moving a cappella rendition of “Amazing Grace” at the event, which was attended by President Barack Obama, Mayor Bill de Blasio, former mayors Rudy Giuliani and David Dinkins, Governor Andrew Cuomo and September 11 survivors, first responders and relatives of victims.
