Looks like Les Miz movie star Eddie Redmayne will be planning his own “Wedding Chorale” in the near future! The Tony winner proposed to his girlfriend of more than two years, Hannah Bagshawe, over Memorial Day weekend. The Los Angeles Times reports that she accepted. Of course she did! Congrats to the happy couple.
Frozen Causes a Divorce
We’re filing this story under the “it’s so strange it must be true” category. Apparently a Japanese woman is divorcing her husband over Frozen. No, not because he wouldn’t stop trying to reach Idina Menzel’s high notes in “Let It Go” but, according to Yahoo! Movies, because he wasn’t obsessed enough with the mega Disney hit. “It's an OK movie, I guess, but I didn't really care for it personally," he apparently told his wife. Her response? "If you can't understand what makes this movie great, there's something wrong with you as a human being...I want a divorce!" That perfect girl is gone. Or something.
Anastasia Stage Adaptation in the Works
A stage musical adaptation of Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Aherns’ 1997 animated movie Anastasia is moving along. A casting notice has revealed that the show will have a New York workshop, helmed by Tony nominee Darko Tresnjak (A Gentleman’s Guide), this summer.
Wicked's a London Legend
The London production of Wicked is now the West End’s 10th longest running show after We Will Rock You shuttered on May 31. Currently in its eighth year at the Apollo Victoria Theatre, the musical has now been seen by over 5.5 million people since its London premiere in September 2006 and played over 3000 performances.
