It looks like the rumors that Rosie O’Donnell will return to The View are true! TMZ reports that the negotiations between the ABC show and the Tony winner are complete. O’Donnell will join Whoopi Goldberg, plus a group of yet-to-be-announced hosts, after the retirement of Barbara Walters and recent departure of Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy.
The View is reportedly eyeing a series of Great White Way names to join the table, including Mario Cantone, Idina Menzel and Bernadette Peters. Of course, O'Donnell is also a well-known supporter of the Broadway community, receiving the Isabelle Stevenson Award at the Tonys earlier this year and hosting the ceremony three times.
O’Donnell served as co-host on The View from 2006 to 2007. Her theater credits include Grease, Seussical, Fiddler on the Roof, Love, Loss and What I Wore and the Encores! production of No, No, Nanette. In 2004, O’Donnell produced the Boy George musical Taboo. She hosted and executive produced the Emmy-winning The Rosie O’Donnell Show for six years. Her additional screen credits include A League of Their Own, Sleepless in Seattle, Riding the Bus with My Sister and Will and Grace.
