Uber Hot Shot! Get a Glittery First Glimpse of Andrew Rannells in Hedwig and the Angry Inch

Andrew Rannells officially steps into the high-heeled boots of Tony winner Neil Patrick Harris in Hedwig and the Angry Inch beginning August 20—and we’re not gonna lie, those are some pretty big boots to fill. But judging by the first promotional photo of Rannells as Hedwig (complete with glittery nails, eyes, lips and uh, pretty much everything), the new star will be every bit as badass as his predecessor. Directed by Michael Mayer, the Tony-winning revival of John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask's 1998 musical features a transgender rock goddess who regales the audience with her tales of escaping communist East Berlin, her botched sex-change operation and her failed relationship with a famous rock icon.
