How far would you go to get a table at the smartest restaurant in town? In its tenth anniversary year, London’s Chocolate Factory celebrates by creating a brand new production of the show that put it on the map in 2004, Fully Committed. Mark Setlock will direct Becky Mode’s whirlwind culinary comedy, which will play September 3 through November 15 at the Menier Chocolate Factory, with opening night set for September 10. Kevin Bishop will star as Sam.
Fully Committed is set in one of Manhattan’s hottest restaurants, where the city never sleeps and the phone never stops ringing. “Resting actor” Sam Peliczowski is in demand…but not for his acting. Instead he mans the red-hot reservation line at Manhattan's number-one eatery and everyone wants a piece of him. As he juggles scheming socialites, name-dropping wannabes, fickle celebrities and an egomaniacal boss, Sam also has to find space to sort out his own life and flagging career.
Bishop’s stage credits include Fat Pig and The Recruiting Office. His screen credits include The Kevin Bishop Show, Super Fun Night, Whites, Hotel Babylon, Peep Show and Muppet Treasure Island.
Fully Committed is Mode’s first play. The show opened at the Vineyard Theatre in 1999 and ran off-Broadway for a year and a half at the Cherry Lane Theatre. Since 2001 it has been one of the ten most produced plays in the United States. Mode’s screen credits include Smash, A Gifted Man and Cosby.
