See, we’re smiling at this news! The film adaptation of Jason Robert Brown’s The Last 5 Years, starring Broadway fave Jeremy Jordan and movie musical darling Anna Kendrick, will soon receive its world premiere. Jordan took to Twitter to announce that the flick will play the Toronto International Film Festival, which is set to kick off this fall on September 4.
The movie, directed by Richard LaGravenese (who also penned the screenplay), is an adaptation of the 2002 off-Broadway musical that centers around Jamie, a writer, and Cathy, an aspiring actress, over the course of half a decade. Jamie tells the story from beginning to end, while Cathy starts with their separation. The film will feature cameos from stars of past productions of the tuner, including Sherie Rene Scott and Betsy Wolfe.
While we still have a few months (and a trip to Canada) before we can check out The Last 5 Years on the big screen, take a look at the two stars filming on the set last year, from start to finish, as well as their adorable interview from a VIP screening earlier this year.
