Original Matilda star Oona Laurence has been cast in the upcoming indie drama Lamb, Deadline reports. The Special Tony Award recipient will play awkward and unpopular 11-year-old Tommie. The film is written and directed by Ross Partridge, who also stars.
Based on the novel of the same name by Bonnie Nadzam, Lamb follows David Lamb (Partridge), a father who, following a failed marriage and the death of his father, embarks on a road trip from Chicago to the Rockies with his outcast daughter (Laurence). The film will also star Jess Weixler.
Laurence made her Broadway debut in Matilda at the age of ten. In addition to Lamb, her additional upcoming screen credits include the previously announced Southpaw opposite Rachel McAdams, Jake Gyllenhaal and Lupita Nyong’o, I Smile Back and The Grief of Others.
