Theater Publicist Faked 'Last Recording' of Joan Rivers
This is simply disgusting. In an attempt to promote Brad Zimmerman’s off-Broadway show My Son the Waiter, a Jewish Tragedy, publicist Beck Lee has owned up to making a fake tape of the late Joan Rivers. According to the New York Post, the comedy icon had been set to record a radio ad for the production and as she lay dying in hospital, Lee hired an impersonator to make a “rehearsal” tape of Rivers talking about the play. He then tried to pass it off as Rivers’ “last recording.” Enough. Can we please let the legend rest in peace and instead celebrate her work in a dignified manner, for instance by watching the re-airing of her A Piece of Work documentary on PBS on September 23?

Switching gears to some much happier news, theater fans—Zachary Quinto has said that he’s “just never more comfortable than when I’m on stage.” The star told Wild Magazine: “Being on stage is something that I’m thrilled that I’m able to find my way back to.” We know you’re busy with a plethora of screen projects including one with fellow Broadway alum James Franco, but we do hope, Mr. Quinto, that you’ll return to us here on the Great White Way soon!

Stephen Adly Guirgis' Prestigious Prize
Stephen Adly Guirgis will be honored with the Steinberg Distinguished Playwright Award at the Seventh Annual Steinberg Playwright “Mimi” Awards on November 17. Guirgis is a member and former co-artistic director of LAByrinth Theater Company and his plays include Between Riverside and Crazy, The Motherf***er with the Hat, Our Lady of 121st Street and Jesus Hopped the ‘A’ Train.
