Frankie J. Grande is set to play the role of Franz in Rock of Ages on Broadway. He will step in for Cody Scott Lancaster and play a limited engagement November 10 through January 18, 2015 at the Helen Hayes Theatre. Meanwhile, Constantine Maroulis, who was nominated for a Tony for the role of Drew in 2009 and returned to the jukebox hit on August 4, will now extend his stay in the show, also through January 18, 2015. Additionally, Lauren Zakrin is to join the company in the lead role of Sherrie beginning November 3, taking over from Carrie St. Louis.
Grande has appeared on the Broadway stage in Mamma Mia!, and served as a producer for the revivals of Hamlet, La Bete and Born Yesterday. He also played a drag queen pageant hopeful in the benefit production of Pageant: The Musical. He was originally scheduled to star in the tuner’s recent off-Broadway production, but instead appeared on Big Brother. Speaking of older siblings, he's Ariana Grande's half-brother.
In addition to Rock of Ages on Broadway, Maroulis also starred in the tuner off-Broadway and headlined the national tour. He most recently appeared on the Great White Way in Jekyll & Hyde. A finalist on the fourth season of American Idol, Maroulis' other stage credits include Broadway’s The Wedding Singer, off-Broadway’s Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris and the national tour of Rent.
Zakrin was a finalist on the MTV reality show Legally Blonde: The Search for the Next Elle Woods and makes her Broadway debut in Rock of Ages. She was previously seen off-Broadway in Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812.
Featuring a score of such classic rock hits as "Here I Go Again," “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” and “Don’t Stop Believin’,” Rock of Ages tells the story of Drew, an aspiring rock star who moves to Los Angeles to make his dreams come true. The current cast also includes Mitchell Jarvis, Genson Blimline, Adam Dannheisser, Josephine Rose Roberts, Paul Schoeffler and Teresa Stanley.
